About NPTEL

NPTEL (National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning) is a joint initiative of IITs and IISc. It has been offering self-study courses across engineering, humanities and science streams for more than a decade. These are available at: https://nptel.ac.in. From March 2014 NPTEL has been offering online certification for its courses, the highlight being the certification exam through which the student gets an opportunity to earn a certificate form the IITs. NPTEL Local Chapter

Shri S'ad Vidya Mandal Institute of Technology (SVMIT) was inspired to establish the NPTEL Local Chapter in the college under the NPTEL Nodal Center at IIT Bombay in order to advance this initiative and encourage more students to participate. This local chapter is managed by a college faculty member who serves as the single point of contact (SPOC) for the NPTEL center at IIT Mumbai. As a 'Local Chapter of NPTEL,' SVMIT encourages you to take advantage of this initiative and appreciate E-Learning, where you can study at your convenience. This local chapter seeks to raise the level of knowledge/expertise of students and faculty to national/international standards.

NPTEL Online Courses

1. NPTEL provides online courses with durations of four, eight, or twelve weeks via an online portal.
2. Each week, you must view 3 to 6 video lectures (20 to 30 minutes in duration), complete an online Assignment quiz at your leisure, and submit it by the due date.
3. To enroll in and learn from these courses, viewing video lectures and submitting assignments is free.
4. After two to three weeks of beginning the course, the option to register for the final exam at Rs. 1,000 to 1,100 is available. If you have sufficient confidence, you may proceed to Exam Registration.
5. Final score = 25% assignment score (online) + 75% exam score (offline). Successful candidates will receive an e-certificate from the administering IIT/IISc. The scholar must have earned a final score of at least 40% to be eligible for a certificate. Electronically verifiable certificates are accessible at nptel.ac.in/noc.
   
6. NPTEL administers final (proctored) examinations at various exam centers throughout India.
